Dr Gurubhaskar Shivakumar 

Consultant Psychiatrist and Lecturer

Bhaskar graduated with his MBBS from the University of Western Sydney in 2014 and earned his Fellowship with the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) in 2022. He completed his basic psychiatric training across major teaching hospitals in VIC, where he also completed his Masters of Psychiatry at The University of Melbourne. Following his return to Sydney, he completed his advanced training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Sydney Local Health District services. He most recently undertook his substantial clinical duties as a Staff Specialist at Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Hospital's acute adult inpatient psychiatric ward. 

Bhaskar has been appointed as a Lecturer with The University of Sydney's Northern Clinical School, and thus co-ordinates the psychiatry teaching block for medical students undertaking their clinical placements across northern Sydney. As an adjunct to this role, he also undertakes active clinical duties as a Clinical Academic within Northern Sydney Local Health District, with special clinical and research interests in the care of those with severe mental illness (SMI).
